SHOULD YOU BUY, LEASE, OR RENT AN ELLIOTT?

Choosing the right option between buying, leasing, or renting an aerial work platform, crane, or digger derrick is crucial. Each option has distinct advantages.  Some of these include:

Buying:

  •  Cost-Effective in Long Term: Generally cheaper over its lifetime than leasing.
  •  Asset Ownership: It’s an asset on your balance sheet.
  •  Tax Benefits: You can claim depreciation and some payments may be tax-deductible.
  • Flexibility in Use: No restrictions on usage.
  • Equity Building: You build equity and can sell the equipment later.

Leasing:

  • Lower Initial Costs: In a lease, you are paying for the difference between the purchase price and the estimated value at the end of the machine at the end of  lease.  Monthly payments are typically lower, covering the depreciation cost plus finance charges.
  • Latest Models: Access to newer, better-equipped models.
  • Maintenance Included: Often includes scheduled maintenance.
  • No Resale Hassle: Avoids the need to sell when upgrading.
  • Tax Advantages: Potential significant tax benefits.

Renting:

  • Flexibility: Renting allows you to flex your equipment needs with your business, avoiding tying up cash on a long-term investment.
  • Maintenance-Free: No maintenance or repair costs.
  • Access to Latest Technology: Opportunity to try new models and technology.
  • Test Before Buying: Try different types before committing to purchase.
  • Deductible Expenses: Rental costs are immediately deductible.

We know every situation is different.  We can help guide you through these choices to tailor the best fit for your business needs.

COLD WEATHER MAINTAINENCE

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your aerial lifts, digger derricks, and boom truck cranes, it’s crucial to prepare them for cold weather. Here’s a concise guide to key maintenance steps:

Oil Warming Solutions
Equip your machinery with a hydraulic oil tank heater. This addition helps the hydraulic oil reach its optimal temperature more quickly in cold conditions, reducing setup time.

Hydraulic Oil Replacement
Switch to a specialized cold-climate hydraulic oil with lower viscosity. This ensures stable performance in temperatures down to -50°F.

Cold Weather Hoses and Seals
In extremely cold environments, use hoses and seals rated for up to -70°F. Regularly inspect these components to ensure they are in good condition and securely fitted.

Chassis Preparation
Conduct a thorough D.O.T. standard inspection, focusing on:
Tire tread and pressure.
Overall chassis condition.
Address cold-specific issues like water in air tanks, battery conditions, and engine fluids.
Ensure all lights are functional for improved visibility in snowy conditions.

Platform Heaters
Consider installing a 110V heater in the operator’s platform for added comfort and sustained productivity in cold weather.

Adhering to these maintenance steps will help maintain your equipment’s efficiency and safety during the winter months.
