Safe + Sound Week at Elliott
Each year we observe National Safe + Sound Week, which will be August 7-13 this year. This OSHA-sponsored nationwide event highlights the importance of workplace health and safety programs.

Safety requires an ongoing focus, as even a small lapse in attention can result in significant consequences to an operator or coworker.
Safety can be enhanced by using the right tool for the job, training, proper jobsite planning and set up, regular maintenance, wearing the correct PPE, and communicating during the task.
We encourage you to take a moment today to think about health and safety, and what you may be able to do to make a difference for you and those around you. This awareness alone will likely lead to a more positive outcome.

What do you like best about working for Elliott? The people are really nice and easy to work with. The product is really fun to build.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment at Elliott? I’ve had the chance to have led two different departments in my short career so far here at Elliott.
What is your favorite Elliott product and why? The M43 high reach and L65 high reach booms. I like them because they are fun and easy to build, which helps us hit our weekly goals in boom fab.
What are your personal hobbies? Bowling and PlayStation when I have time.
What is your all-time favorite movie, band/musician, or TV series?
My favorite TV series are Mayans and Sons of Anarchy.
What is your favorite sport and team?

Are you aware of your Surroundings?
When it comes to safety, being aware of site conditions and surroundings is key. Note obstacles such as traffic, ground conditions, and power lines. Ask yourself:
Does passing motor vehicle traffic pose a risk?
Is the ground able to support the equipment properly (including slope, compaction, and firmness)? Is cribbing necessary?
Do you need to ask the electric company to de-energize and ground overhead power lines?
These are just a few considerations to be discussed before starting a project. Ensure your team completes all necessary safety checklists prior to starting each and every job so that nothing is missed!
